Meet the Pilgrim
The Call to Camino
Every pilgrim comes to the Camino seeking something, but for me, the journey began after everything had stopped. Following a serious, life-altering injury, I suddenly found myself stripped of my ability to speak, work, and do many of the things that make life worthwhile. I felt lost, not in the sense of needing to find myself, but needing to understand who I would become within these new and lasting limitations. I knew I needed to walk away from my old life to step into a new one. I just needed to walk.
The Healing Journey
That irresistible pull led me to the Camino Portugues Central, starting in Porto and ultimately reaching Santiago de Compostela. The physical challenge was intense, but the true healing came from the thousands of meditative steps and the people I met along the way.
Before the Camino, I had honestly lost faith in the simple goodness of mankind. But on the Way, I rediscovered a deep well of confidence and was constantly humbled by the kindness of fellow pilgrims. The limitations are still here and will be for life, but the Camino gave me the strength to handle them.
The Inevitable Dilemma
When I returned home, filled with gratitude and purpose, I was eager to display my Compostela and the mementos I carried. But the search for a proper display was elusive.
- Nothing on the market seemed right—standard frames felt unworthy of what the document represents.
- Custom framing estimates were out of my budget and required effort beyond my current ability to communicate.
My poor Compostela lay rolled up in a little green tube, and I knew there had to be other pilgrims with the same dilemma.
A New, Profound Purpose
Out of that frustration grew a solution. I spent time meticulously designing my own custom display frame created specifically to hold the Compostela and other small mementos.
It was a long labor of love to get the design just right, but the result is a product I am fiercely proud of—one that now preserves my own cherished memory.
My mission now is to use this passion to create thoughtful, beautiful artifacts that help my fellow pilgrims honor their journey and remember the person they became on the Way.
